Third-ranked Hamilton Southeastern dominated the 2009 Hoosier Crossroads Conference Championship held Aug. 31 in Cicero, carding a 317 to defeat runner-up No. 9 Noblesville by 24 shots for the team title.
Sophomore Brooke Beegle led the victorious Royals’ charge at Bear Slide Golf Club (rating 68.2, slope 131), shooting a 71 to earn medalist honors by three strokes over Noblesville senior Meghan Potee. Meanwhile, junior Kelsey Smith (third with a 79), sophomore Anne Leighty (tied for fifth at 82), and senior Darcy Allman (seventh with an 85) all finished in the Top 10 for coach Steve Guenin’s defending state champions.
No. 14 Lafayette Jefferson (348) finished third in the loaded 10-team event that featured six Top 20-ranked schools. No. 17 Zionsville (354) placed fourth, with 12th-ranked Avon (359) fifth and No. 20 Fishers (396) a distant sixth.
